Emily Wilding with Superintendent Hatch and Principal Jerry Oldroyd

Emmalee Wilding, 5th grade, South El.

Mrs. Wilding recently hosted a STEM station rotation morning for her 5th grade class. I was a parent volunteer at one of the stations. I loved watching her interact with and treat each of her students with dignity that morning as she introduced them to their stations and us volunteers. I know that these kinds of endeavors (5 different hands-on stations with materials, parents and prepped lessons at each) are not easy, so I’d like to give her props for the extra effort she alone took to ensure those kids were learning by using engaging strategies outside of showing a YouTube video and doing a worksheet (which is OK sometimes too). She is an incredible educator who understands effective pedagogy, but also knows the value of parent communication and support. She rocks and we love her!

Jeff Starr with principal

Jeff Starr, head custodian, CHS

Jeff Starr is such an amazing custodian and boss. He makes a huge difference in our school, and he is responsible for keeping the building looking clean, safe, and sparkling. I truly think that the custodians deserve a little more appreciation for the hard work they put into making the school a welcoming place, and Jeff Starr goes above and beyond in his duties. He always inspires me to try harder and better my craft. Cedar High School would be a lot more different without him. Jeff Starr deserves some recognition for the positive impact he has on the school, staff, and students!

She volunteered many hours to bring joy to Fiddlers families in need during the Christmas season. We love Mrs. Werber!

She is an amazing Kindergarten teacher. She has a positive attitude no matter what craziness is going on. She is always organized and willing to help others. She is a fantastic teacher, and truly cares about her students and I can see it through the relationship she builds with her student. She is such an asset to the school and every student that comes through her class.

Penny Seely with special education director

Penny Seely, Administrator, South and Three Peaks Preschool

Penny works very hard every day to ensure that preschool students across the district and the teachers of those students have all the things needed to be successful. She attends close to 100 IEPs a year, in addition to her other administration duties. She still always has time for her teachers to come and ask her questions and make requests of her. She works very hard to support every staff member in her purview, and even on hard days Penny has a smile. Her good attitude is contagious. I hope Penny understands how much she is needed and appreciated at the preschool!

She is an amazing mentor and does whatever it takes to help me.

Rex Burton with superintendent

Rex Burton, teacher, Parowan El.

Mr. Burton has dedicated his entire life to teaching students of Iron County. He has taught for over 40 years for ICSD, most of those years at PES. He has been a third grade teachers for almost all of those years. He has seen programs and teaching curriculums come and go in those years but he has always been the constant advacate for students! He has organized sub for Santa drives, food drives and countless field trips, teaching his students (hundreds over the years) about community, kindness, and respect for others as well as respect for our beloved Southern Utah. He has taught Iron County history for most of his career and has done a third grade program for over 20 of those years that I know of, spotlighting a citizen of the year, usually an Iron County native. There is in my opinion, no employee more deserving of the being refurred to as "Iron Strong" than Mr. Rex Burton!

Tammy Palmer with superintendent

Tammy Palmer, teacher, Iron Springs Elementary

Mrs palmer makes every day a happy one for her class. She and her aides run together like a well oiled machine, and each aide is just as amazing as she is. She is incredibly patient with all her students and makes their learning her priority. My daughter has thrived and achieved so many milestones since we got into Mrs palmer’s class and we don’t know what we would do without her and her amazing team of aides.

— Mandy Hatch, parent

Mrs. Robinson and superintendent

Shanice Robinson, teacher, Iron Springs Elementary

Mrs. Robinson has been a fresh of breath air for our child and has created an inviting and encouraging space in her classroom. She is fair but kind and has instilled a love for school our child has never experienced before this school year. We are so grateful for her!

She is so organized, loving and kind to each child. She made my child recognize a love of learning and moved her up in reading and math levels. Such a great teacher!

Mrs. Robinson is the sweetest teacher I've ever met. Her sweet voice along with her kind disposition is perfect for a 2nd grade teacher. My daughter loves her. She truely cares about each student and is so nice. My daughter comes home excitedly telling me everything she has learned for the day. She loves how Mrs. Robinson acknowledges and rewards her for following the rules and being nice. It makes her want to continue to follow rules and be a good student. She said she really good at helping all the kids be quite and do their work, but in a nice way. I'm so grateful she had Mrs. Robinson this year.

Angie York and Superintendent

Angie York, teacher, Iron Springs

Daily I am amazed at Mrs. York’s ability to manage her class. She has several challenging students in her class who become a disturbance. As she works with them on their inappropriate behavior she does it in a way that she is understood. She uses it as a teaching time to help them become a community member that contributes rather than takes away. Her student interaction, with love, kindness and being firm, has created a setting of trust. Her students are engaged in their lessons and have been taught to contribute appropriately. Mrs. York takes a personal interest in her students which has created a positive teacher/student relationship.

She has helped my son extremely, who previously was behind and struggling because of his adhd, to catch up and do really great and she is so understanding, accepting, caring, kind, she loves all of her students genuinely. There is so much I could say why she deserves this. She is what every teacher should be and I want her to be my daughter's teacher next year as well.

Cheri Mitchell and superintendent

Cheri Mitchell, teacher, Iron Springs

She is exceptional at teaching children. Each child progresses so much in her class. My child loves her so much and loves to learn and finish and complete what she needs. She is fun and organized and also so great and teaching and showing students the love they need. She is retiring which is such a loss for this school. She is truly a life changing teacher for these kids!!!

She made me want to be myself and always made things great.
