Boys standing on podium
The team of Ammon York, Braxten Gifford, McKoy Smith and Tel Hirschi came in as underdogs to the Snow Canyon 4×400 team going into the championship race at the culmination of the state championships on Saturday evening. Ammon York started the race for the Reds and ran a strong leg to give the Reds the advantage right out of the gate. At the second exchange from Braxten Gifford to McKoy Smith the Reds were neck and neck with the Warriors at the halfway point, where Smith took the exchange and outran the Warrior runner to take a slight advantage at the handoff to the anchor Tel Hirschi. Tel ran away with the race to bring home the top place and the fastest 4×400 relay in Cedar High History. Congratulations boys. Awesome Race!!

The Reds bats were hot in game 2 vs. the Sky View Bobcats on Wednesday as they put up 9 runs in the top of the first inning. A HBP, a single by Haylee Campbell and a walk to Shaylee Johnson loaded the bases without an out and Lexi Ludlow delivered a 2 run single to open the scoring. Two quick outs later and the Reds were hoping to deliver a two out rally which they did in a big way aided by some sloppy defense by the Bobcats. A walk to Hayley Ennis and an error on a Mya Bishoff fly ball plated another Cedar Run. Paytyn Houston knocked in two more runners with a single to get the Reds back to the top of the order. Geddes drew a walk and then the big blow came off the bat of Haylee Campbell who hit a grand slam to open up a 9-0 lead before the Reds had to take the field defensively. The Reds would add 2 more runs in the top of the third on singles by Shaylee Johnson and Sadie Parson, another run in the top of the 5th with a 2 out double steal with Haylee Campbell taking home plate. The final 2 runs of the game for the Reds were scored when Lexi Ludlow took the Sky View pitcher deep for a 2 run home run. Sadie Parson managed her way through the Sky View line up throughout the game allowing 7 runs in the 7 innings but did just enough to keep the lead and help the Reds to move on.
