Boys Basketball upset bid of Dixie falls just short. The Cedar Reds put up a valiant effort, going toe to toe with the Region 10 leading Dixie Flyers on Wednesday night, leading most of the way. The Reds got out early to a 9 point lead as they were able to execute a defensive game plan to slow down the high flying Dixie squad early. The two squads played fairly even throughout the second quarter as as the Reds carried an 8 point lead into the half. The Flyers came out quickly in the 3rd quarter whittling the Reds lead down to just 2 early in the 3rd but the Reds were able to answer each time the Flyers made a run through the rest of the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter was equally even matched as each team traded baskets back and forth knocking down outside shots as well as adding old fashioned three point plays. The Flyers took the lead down the stretch leading by 2 points as the Reds had the ball with an opportunity to tie or take a lead but were unable to capitalize. The Flyers knocked down free throws down the stretch to extend that lead to 6 which ended up being the final margin. In a balanced attack on the night Landon Kreitzer led the way with 15 points followed by Boston Garrett's 14 points and 6 boards. Ty Bronson contributed 12 points and 6 boards, while Kandon Coronado put up 9 points. Nate Rogers contributed 7 points with 7 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds followed by Stockton Albrecht's 6 points and Easton Albrecht's 3 points on the night. The Reds will play their final regular season game Friday at home vs Hurricane.

The offense went cold for the Reds and Dixie made a run to get the game tied at 39 with one minute left when Mya Bishoff got fouled and hit both free throws to give the Reds the 2 point advantage. The Cedar Reds girls basketball team picked up win #4 on the season as they defeated Pine View to gain the season sweep of the Panthers. The two teams struggled offensively early, between the two teams there was one basket and 4 free throws scored as the Reds took a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter the offenses started to click as Pine View scored 12 points and the Reds spread the offense around with Kasia Davis and Kianna Warby each hitting 3 pointers and Anna Robison and Kiara Hansen each scoring a basket. The Reds took a 15-13 score into the break. The game turned and the third quarter belonged to the Reds as they were able to run out to a big lead outscoring the Panthers 20-5 in the 3rd. With the game seemingly in hand after the Reds kept the Panthers to 18 points in the first 3 quarters, the Panthers would not go away applying full court pressure and the Reds struggled to break the press allowing Pine View to work back into it to get within 4 with three minutes left. Key free throws down the stretch from Annalyse Shimada and Gabby Gomez secured the lead late in the game for the Reds to come out victorious. The Reds used a balanced scoring attack led by senior Anna Robison's double double scoring 10 points with 11 rebounds and Kiara Hansen scored 9 points and pulled down 11 boards as well. Gabby Gomez scored 9 points with 4 assists. Kasia Davis and Annalyse Shimada each had 6 points, with Mya Bishoff and Kianna Warby each scoring 3 points and Sadie Parson pulled down 8 rebounds along with her 2 points.
