Parents Right to Know 

Escalante Valley Elementary is one of the schools in Iron County School District that receives Title I funding. You are receiving this notice as the parent or guardian of a student attending one of these schools. 

Qualifications:

Escalante Valley Elementary will provide, upon request, information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers, including at a minimum the following: 

  • Whether the teacher has met State qualifications for grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; 

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other professional status that the State has waived; 

  • Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher; and

  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and if so their qualifications. 

Additional Information:

A school that receives Title I funds must provide to each individual parent: 

Information on the level of achievement and academic growth the child, if applicable and available, has made on each of the State academic assessments required under this part; and timely notice that the parent’s child has been assigned or taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet the applicable State certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned. 

Testing Transparency 

All parents and guardians of a student attending Escalante Valley Elementary may request information regarding any State or local educational agency policy regarding student participation in any assessments mandated by section 1111(b)(2) and by the State or local educational agency. Parents also have the right to opt a child out of such assessments. You will find the Parent Exclusion form, with information about each of the assessments that apply, on the USBE Assessment and Accountability webpage. You may also visit our front office to request a Parental Exclusion form that will need to be signed and returned before the testing begins.
