Cedar Middle School’s latest enrichment was the Cedar High School’s band performance. The band came and played many different songs. The band teacher, Mr. Sorensen, talked to everyone and informed them of the benefits of joining the band in high school. For example, the band members get to travel to places like Northern Utah and even Disneyland! They also have the opportunity to perform at events such as parades, basketball, and football games.
In addition, Mr. Sorensen mentioned that although being in the band requires time and attention, it’s also possible for you to be part of extracurricular activities. These include student government, sports teams, clubs, etc. Another interesting part about this enrichment was when the band members shared their own personal experiences from their time in the band. Being in the band creates a very family-like atmosphere, fun memories, and lifelong friends. A few students also shared how they have been doing band for all three years of middle school and four years of high school too! The members told us how music can be used to de-stress or a distraction of what’s happening in real life. Over all, the CHS band is more than just a music class.
