Orchestra class

On March 8th the advanced orchestra went to Salt Lake City for Jr. State Orchestra to perform for  judges and have a great time. They went to the CMS at a normal time, and did a run through of all the songs they were going to play. Which included  Ocean Storm, Autumn Vows, and Boreas (The Cold, North Wind).  At 8:30 they loaded the bus up and left for Salt Lake. They had a lot of fun on the bus, playing heads up and just hanging out. Once they got to Salt Lake City they went to a mall to go shopping and have lunch before performing. After about an hour, they left for University of Utah. They listened and evaluated three other school orchestras, then  went to the warm up room before going on stage. It was an adventure, they got very lost trying to get to the stage, as nobody came to help them find the stage. Once they found the entrance to the stage, they waited and took a couple final deep breaths before it was finally time to perform. The students were really confident in what they had played, and said it was their best performance yet! The orchestra then moved to the site reading room and the judges gave them a piece of music that no one in the room had played and they got 8 minutes to learn it without playing at all. They did very well. Then one of the judges gave them suggestions with their pieces that they played on stage.

After that they packed all their stuff in the bus and left for a different mall for dinner. They had an hour to just have fun!  Then they left for home at about 6:45 pm. All the kids were having so much fun and not letting anyone get sleep. They stopped at a gas station at about 8:45 and then bought more sugar and soda. After that they started singing heads up while another group was hanging out and having fun. They got to the middle school at about 11 at night. After putting all the stuff away, the students went home and went to sleep as they still had school the next day. Thank you to all the parent chaperones that went with them and thank you to Mrs. Carrigan for getting the students as ready as they could be. Thank you to all the students for practicing and participating and thanks to all people who supported them.
