Board Briefs 6-18-24 with picture of new board member Michelle Tullis

The Board of Education approved the final budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24 and adopted the preliminary budget for 2024-25.


Business Administrator Todd Hess said there was an increase of about $14 million in the current budget, due to the midyear adjustments received from the state. Expenditures were increased by about $9.1 million to ensure a balanced budget.

The Board also welcomed Michelle Tullis as the new board member for Precinct 6. The swearing in came after the six standing board members corrected a misstep in the earlier proceedings. Board President Ben Johnson explained the board had learned that Utah’s Closed Meeting Law prohibits discussion of the character of any midterm replacement applicants in closed session.
