COMMUNITY PARTNERS JOIN TOGETHER TO HOST DISTRICT PARENT NIGHT
To educate families and people of all ages in hopes of strengthening our community, the Iron County School District, Iron County Prevention Coalition and the Family Support Center of Southwestern Utah are sponsoring a District Parent Night event on Monday, Sept 23, at 6:00 pm at Cedar High School.
Dr. Christy Kane will be presenting on "How Electronics Impact the Developing Adolescent Brain." Teens spend an average of 6.5 hours per day on electronics. One in four teens spend more time socializing online than in person.
What is this doing to their brains? Why are depression, anxiety and suicide increasing? Why do kids have difficulty socializing? Why is bullying so damaging? Why do certain video games increase aggression? Dr. Kane will answer these questions and more as well as share with us practical parenting tips for this technology heavy day and age.
This event is free to parents because of the donations that we receive from our local community. Come out for community booths, door prizes, free dinner and great information. We would appreciate your support in this endeavor to strengthen the families in our community!
