Entry to Iron District schools shall be determined by Utah Law §53A-3-402- (5): "A board may enroll children in school who are at least five years of age before September 2 of the year in which admission is sought."
Students entering Iron County Schools for the first time must present a certificate of health, a certified birth certificate, and a record of immunization shots.
Students who have been enrolled in Kindergarten in another state who would otherwise not be eligible for entrance into Kindergarten in Utah will need to present documentation of attendance of at least 1/2 year in the state they came from, for enrollment into Iron District Kindergarten.
A child may be enrolled in the first grade if the child is at least six years of age on or before September 2 of the current school year or has been enrolled in the first grade, or completed kindergarten in the public schools of another state prior to transferring to the District.
A child may be assigned to a grade other than that which would normally be assigned on the basis of age at the discretion of the District and with the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian. Verification of ability to perform adequately in the assigned grade will be required for such exceptions.
