The Iron County School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lance Hatch as the new superintendent beginning July 1, 2021.
Dr. Hatch has served as superintendent in Carbon School District for the past four years.
His education includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Utah University, a master’s in education from Utah State University, and a PhD in teacher education and leadership from Utah State University.
Raised in the tiny town of LaSal Utah, Dr. Hatch graduated from Monticello High School in 1993. He taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grades in Uintah School District where he was selected as the district teacher of the year.
He has been an elementary school principal for 10 years and led two Title 1 elementary schools to receive the Title 1 High Performing School Award for multiple years at each school. He has also served as a district level administrator in the capacity of Elementary Director and Director of Human Resources.
ICSD Board President Michelle Lambert said, “Dr. Hatch comes to us with a wealth of experience in education and an obvious commitment to student growth and success. We are thrilled to welcome him as the new superintendent and look forward to working with him.”
Dr. Hatch and his wife are the parents of four children and recently became grandparents.
He will be replacing Dr. Shannon Dulaney, who is retiring after eight years as superintendent of Iron County Schools.
