Congratulations to Helen Swasey, a sophomore at Canyon View High School and member of the CVHS SkillsUSA chapter, who took 2nd place in the Job Interview competition at the recent Utah SkillsUSA Competition. This is an outstanding accomplishment. The SkillsUSA chapter advisor at CVHS is David Sorensen.

The Job Interview contest evaluates the understanding of employment procedures that a student will face in applying for positions in the occupational area for which he or she is training. The contest consists of three parts. The first is the receptionist’s preliminary evaluation. The second portion is the completion of an employment application, and the third portion
is an in-depth interview.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. A nonprofit national education association, SkillsUSA serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service (including health) occupations.
