We recently had our 3rd quarter award ceremonies. Each grade level does there awards a little differently. In fourth grade we have exemplary eagle ward, perfect attendance, friendship award, and most improved award. Each award is awarded to a boy and girl from each class. The exemplary eagle award is for a girl and a boy who show exemplary behavior and academic skills. It is a great opportunity to be able to share with the grade level and parents the achievements their child has made.

East Elementary:

Our school was fortunate enough to have the Play Makers from SUU come to our school and put on a play for us. They performed a play called “Junie B. Jones The Musical”. They did a fantastic job performing. It was great being able to see so many children performing with such great talent. The students loved it, and were very well entertained. It is always great to be able to have performances for our students.

Recently we were able to attend a school assembly where, Fuel Up to Play 60 had a message for all the children concerning nutrition and health. It was a great program to help kids understand why it is important to eat healthy meals, snacks and also to always start your day off with breakfast. Alex Smith NFL Quarterback talked to he students about the importance of nutrition and to exercise for 60 minutes a day. It was a great program for the students.

Last week was fourth grades annual Rock Day! Every year each fourth grade class takes an entire Wednesday to do experiments that have to do with our rock cycle unit. We have six different experiments that we do. These experiments include: fossils, making crystals, preserving fossils, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Some experiments you get to eat, others you get to take home. The best part of rock day, is we all dress up as rock stars and listen to rock music while doing the rock experiments. We can’t wait until next year!
