Cedar City High School Jazz Band

On May 1st, the Cedar High School Jazz Band held their annual Spring Concert in the school's auditorium at 7:30pm. The evening's performance included the music of legendary artist, Ray Charles, and the performance was well-received by the audience. The band performed "Hit the Road Jack", "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "What'd I say", just to name a few. Pieces by Holiday (God Bless the Child) and Bob Curnow (Writer's Cramp) were also among the audience favorites performed.

The Percussion Ensemble also performed that evening, and amongst their repertoire was Danse Bacchanale by Camille Saint-Saens, which they played with agility and musicality. A huge thanks to Mr. Steve Shirts, Cedar High School Director of Bands. We are grateful for his dedication and care for students as well as his expertise. During the course of the evening, Mr. Shirts took the opportunity to express thanks to Dr. Adam Lambert, SUU music professor, for his help in preparing these groups to perform.

Finally, Brock Bleak (trombone) and David Nelson (alto sax) were recognized for their solo accomplishments/awards at this year's State Band Festival. Congratulations to these two young men and every member of these two groups for their dedication to honing their musical talents and their contribution to the success of these groups.
